Estimate a UAC-style 7-point GPA from grade values and credit/load, then see the formula trace, included rows, ungraded-pass handling, and fail-row impact.
Estimate the 7-point UAC GPA arithmetic from grade values and credit/load. Confirm official assessment with UAC.
Subjects and loads
Enter the grade category and credit/load value shown on the record. Use equal load only when credit values are not assigned.

How to use it
How to get your UAC GPA estimate
Start with the subject rows from your tertiary record. Use the UAC GPA calculator in detailed mode when each subject has its own credit or load value, and keep the ungraded-pass setting on Auto unless you are testing a specific exception.
Detailed rows
Use credit/load when you have it
The detailed mode is best for a transcript-style estimate because every subject can have its own credit or load value. When your record does not assign load values, switch on equal-load mode so every entered subject counts once.
Quick counts
Count grades when loads are uniform
Quick counts are useful when each subject has the same value. If you need a UAC 7 point GPA calculator for a fast transcript check, enter how many HD, Distinction, Credit, Pass, conceded pass, and fail results you have, then set the shared load per subject. The UAC GPA calculator keeps that shortcut separate from detailed rows because the UGP exception needs row-level review.
Method
What goes into the estimate
UAC says it converts grades to numeric values, uses a 7-point scale, weights by credit/load where available, and usually takes the GPA to two decimal places. The UAC GPA calculator shows the same arithmetic path so you can check the estimate instead of doing the division by hand.
Formula
Credit/load weighted GPA
Included rows are multiplied by credit/load, added together, and divided by the included load. The result panel shows both the numerator and denominator so you can compare it with your own notes or the public UAC sample.
Use the UAC GPA calculator result beside your transcript notes so you can see which rows were counted, which rows were ignored, and what question still needs an official check.
UAC GPA estimate = sum(load x grade value) / sum(load)

Confirm edge cases with UAC
Read the public UAC tertiary qualifications methodology before relying on an edge case. GradeCal does not assess omitted records, repeats, combined degrees, transfer credit, overseas scales, or official QAS outcomes.

Example output
This preview mirrors the default sample in the tool: a 4.00 estimate from included grade/load rows, with an ungraded pass ignored under the default rule.
Limits
Read the result as an estimate, not an assessment
Treat the UAC GPA calculator result as a way to understand the arithmetic. It cannot replace UAC's assessment, application processing, or QAS statement, and it cannot predict admission offers.
Ungraded passes
Test the UGP rule without hiding the choice
Auto mode follows the public exception logic, while the manual include and exclude settings let you see how much ungraded passes change the estimate. The result panel names whether UGP rows were included or ignored.
No. GradeCal gives an unofficial arithmetic estimate based on public UAC methodology notes. It is not a UAC QAS result. Students often search for a UAC GPA calculator reddit explanation, but crowdsourced answers and online estimates cannot replace your UAC QAS GPA. A UAC application assessment or QAS statement is the official source for your assessed GPA.
How does the UAC GPA calculation work?
UAC describes a credit/load weighted GPA on a 7-point numeric scale. Multiply each included grade value by its credit/load, add those totals, then divide by the included credit/load.
What happens to ungraded passes?
The calculator defaults to an auto rule: ignore ungraded passes unless including them would match the public UAC exceptions for a GPA below 4 or for more than half the presented load. You can also force include or exclude to test the impact.
Are academic fail grades included?
Yes. Academic fail and withdrawn fail rows are included as 0 in this estimate. If a fail has no load value, confirm the correct load with the official UAC guidance before relying on the result.
Can I use this for medicine GPA UAC requirements or a USYD UAC GPA?
You can use it to understand the UAC-style arithmetic, but it does not decide medicine eligibility, USYD entry, offer chances, or how UAC will treat every transcript edge case.
Is this the same as GEMSAS GPA, WAM, or ATAR conversion?
No. This page estimates UAC-style 7-point GPA arithmetic only. It does not convert WAM to GPA, calculate GEMSAS year-weighted GPA, or convert GPA to ATAR.
